Game Rules
The Men’s Leagues at Titan Sportsplex follow general indoor soccer match rules which are enforced by our Match Officials. Below are some important notes to keep in mind while competing:
- No Sliding: Sliding on the turf, whether contact is made with the ball or not, and whether there are players around the area or not, is NOT PERMITTED in the facility during gameplay. Sliding will be penalized by awarding an indirect free kick to the opposing team. Referees hold all discretion to penalize any “sliding-action” determined to be intentional. Slipping, falling, or an unintentional slide after a shot/pass may be the only exceptions to this rule. This rule is intact to protect our players from dangerous tackles and/or injuries on the turf.
- No Spitting: Due to health and safety reasons, please respect the rule of No Spitting which applies to the turf and surrounding areas.
- Ceiling Rule: If the ball connects with any part of the Dome Ceiling, play will be stopped and resumed with a free kick directly under the contact spot awarded to the opposing team of the player who kicked the ball. All free kicks and kick-in’s are indirect.
- Hand Ball Reminder: Hand Ball Fouls are called under the discretion of the referee. Not every time a player touches the ball with their hand will a foul be called. Exceptions to the hand ball rule include: a player with their hands tucked firmly against the sides of their body, hands not extended, and the protection of sensitive body areas.
- Inbounding Rule: The ball must be completely stopped when inbounding the ball from a kick-in/goal kick/corner kick etc. A referee may ask the kick to be retaken if the ball has not appeared to come to a full stop before re-entering play.
Players per Team
Men’s league games are 6v6: each team has 5 players and a goalie on the pitch. All substitute players must be included on the player roster. Call up’s are allowed in the event that a team has no substitution players. At the arrival of a substitution player who is listed on the roster, the Call Up is no longer needed for that game.
Injuries
If an injury occurs on the field, the game where the injury occurs MUST come to a complete stop. This means the ball stops moving and game does not resume until the injury is dealt with properly by the Referee or Titan Sportsplex’s facility manager. In the case of a serious injury, please approach the facility manager in the dome or office to allow the situation to be handled promptly and professionally. There is no added time per game due to injury.
Altercations
Violence, physical and verbal abuse will not be tolerated within the facility. Rules of play are clearly defined and arguments should be kept to a minimum. Players seen to be consistently causing altercations or game delays may be denied entry to the facility. Titan Sportsplex Niagara holds the right to remove a player from the facility at any time under the discretion of the facility manager.
Individuals displaying violence, physical abuse or verbal abuse towards players, staff or management, or provoking altercation between players will be REMOVED and/or BANNED from the facility upon review of the situation.
